I recently picked up a copy of Rachel Susseman's The Oldest Living Things in the World. Over a year ago I had heard of her quest to beautifully document earth's oldest residents and I was excited to see that it was completed. Turning the pages opens up image after awe inspiring image. The 3000 year old Llareta in the Chilean deserts or the 100,000 year old Posidonia Sea Grass off the coast of Spain. The hanging leaves of the Antarctic Beech that have been swaying the breezes of Queensland, Australia for 12,000 years. I'm quickly and constantly reminded of our planet's rugged resiliences and delicate balances.
