Winter Chai

Sometimes you just need some quiet. 

Slip away from the race of everyday life and enjoy a moment alone or with a loved one.


2 c water

1 cinnamon stick

1 T whole cloves

3 cardamom pods, crushed

½ t peppercorns, crushed

2-3 strips orange peel

3 t. black tea leaves, in diffuser (or 3 black tea bags)

1 c milk

Honey to taste


Assemble a spice pack by putting spices and orange peel in a tea bag or large diffuser. (Alternately you can leave spices loose, just strain them out at the end.) 

Bring water to a boil, lower heat and simmer spice pack for 15-30 minutes depending on how spicy you like your Chai. Remove from heat and add tea, steeping for 5 minutes. 

Remove spice pack and tea bags. Stir in milk over low heat. Add honey to taste, stirring until dissolved.
